today i had an interview with [foxboro elementary school]
its been my dream job for a couple reasons:
-i did my 6th grade student teaching there
- the principal won the 'best principal' award and is amazing
- it's in the best and most applied for school district
-it's a brand new, beautiful school with so many new offerings
- it's in a great location for living

after i completed my student teaching it was this faculty that encouraged me to go on and get my TESOL (teaching english to students of other languages) degree. and it was the teachers who called me to tell me there was a position open, and the teachers who helped me get my screening.
when i was in FLORIDA my mom said she had a good feeling about foxboro, but i just wouldn't allow myself to think it could ever happen. i was just a first year teacher and not experienced enough. but she wouldn't stop believing a position would open up.
school has been in session for the past 2 weeks, but this week i got a call telling me a MUSIC position has opened up. the teachers were encouraging me to jump on it. i had never thought about being a elective teacher, much less teaching music, i quickly began to steer my direction towards music and lesson plans and my grading and classroom management system of what i was going to do. the position was closed however my principal opened it back up for me to submit my application.
there were 11 interviews for this position. i would stay up all night writing down what i wanted to say and studying interview questions, getting a basic music curriculum in my head. i wanted this position more than anything, but only if it was right for me and for my students.
i am so blessed to say that he called me 2 hours after my interview and said, "brittany, we would like to ask you to fill our position as the foxboro elementary music teacher" i just jumped and smiled and responded how much i'd love to!
later on that night i talked to my teacher (who i taught 6th grade with) and she said that the other interviews went really well. there was a lady who had her masters in music, and a blind man who has taught music to every grade and who can play a number of instruments. how amazing! all the interviewees were strong in music, except me. but when the interviews were over, he said, "i want brittany."
i just started crying. i know i have big shoes to fill and can't help but feel sorry for the amazing musicians that didn't get the job. surely they are more talented in music than i. but i do know that i have wanted to be a teacher since i was 7 years old. i have never wanted to be anything more. i worked so hard in my student teaching and throughout college to be the best teacher i could be. and i know i can do it. i will work so hard to make this 2011-2012 school year be the best school year for all the 900 students (k-6) who come to ms. brassell's classroom, they are going to leave saying how much they love music.
Heavenly Father has blessed me so much. its amazing how things fall together and how aware of my life He is. i had no idea where i would end up or how long i would be job searching. but everything fell right into place step by step i can only thank Him, my family, the faculty, and my friends for the support they have been throughout all of this. i am so blessed and grateful for this opportunity.
i start this tuesday! and am moving into a town home with the 4th grade teacher this weekend!

after my interview, just moments before he called me miss brassell (:
