hi november!

I may be biased because November is my birthday month, but don't you just LOOVE November!?
It's just a pretty month altogether. How can you not just love her. But seriously November, where have you gone??
I've only made like 2 posts this month.
And here's why!

[CHRISTMAS].

Now, you may call me just another one of those Scrooge's, because I have loved seeing how Nordstrom and other stores have put up signs saying "We won't deck out halls til after Thanksgiving."

(ok, minus the name calling, you get the picture)

Sure, I love Christmas just as much as the next person, but poor Thanksgiving always gets skipped over and jaded due to crazy Christmas commercialism. True, the Christmas cheer is hard to restrain, and who doesn't love seeing all the red and green decor, smell of pine trees, caroling, and silver bells...
But, I'm still a believer of giving [Thanksgiving] it's rightful recognition! (:

Now I'll declare my hypocrisy as I re-state why I have been MIA to all those lovely calls and texts. Wanting to make a good first impression for this dream school of mine I took it upon myself to have a Christmas performance. Which meant I skipped over the 2 never-even-sung-before Thanksgiving songs and ruffled to the pages and pages and pages of Christmas songs... I know, I'm just so terrible. And as a lousy attempt to make up for it I had the students name one thing they were most grateful for...

It's funny how my K-3 graders would name things like:
family, freedom, soldiers, food, clothes, bed, house, feet, etc.
And my 4-6 graders would name things such as:
I-pod, X-box, video games, TV, themselves, etc.
Oh, how just a few years brings about so many changes.

So due to this project I haven't fully been able to appreciate this Thanksgiving season like I normally am apt to giving its attention to...

I have about 950 students, 35 classes, and 6 grades. I plan on fitting them all into the auditorium and having a Christmas Choral. One by one, each grade will stand up and perform their song and at the end all the students will sing a song together- which I chose today: Believe (Polar Express) by Josh Groban. I am so excited, but I must say my mind is going crazy.
I sing these songs in the shower, on the way to and from work, in my sleep, while eating cereal, while sitting in church... for heavens sake I was so focused on thinking and planning all of this I passed my exit and ended up in Salt Lake before I snapped back to reality.
But, I did get to steal a glance of this lovely view (:

Remember how you were shocked when you found out that I, Brittany got the [MUSIC] teaching job?? Yeah, me too. There is so much I'm learning, I love it! But I'm still just the simple me, I have an old out-dated I-POD that has been lost for 4 months now, by the way. I said no thanks when my parents offered to buy me the new one for my birthday- too much to handle. And I have 3 I-Tunes gift cards sitting in my wallet, car, and junk drawer waiting to be used... I just started using Spotify, what more do I need?
The point is, now I have to pull some strings to get this whole music program to work. Looks like I'll be grabbing my little 6th grade brother to help me with all this I-Tunes buiznass.

Wish me luck!
Here is the tentative program my Principal approved today. It's all the students can talk about, and is getting me rather excited! (:

  3. That sounds like so much fun, Brittany! I'm sure it'll help everyone get into the Christmas spirit even more--all those cute kids singing and all. :) I don't know if I can be of any help, but know that I'll be sending happy thoughts and prayers your way. :)
