since april i have been counting down the days til our FLORIDA trip, and it finally came! and now it went, and now here's my long picture/blog/story/wrap-up post!
my dad grew up in florida, [Ft. Walton Beach], which is otherwise known as "lower alabama"
i looove the south, and it felt so good to be back! we were nestled at the tip-top of florida, gulf side, with the beautiful ocean and white sand!
oh and it was hurricane season, which put a damper on the first couple days, which makes sense of why all the pictures were taken from a 1-2 day period. forgive the lack of outfit diversity.
thanks to mom and dad we got our favorite resort- the one with the LAZY RIVER... where we spent 80% of our vaca time.
because who doesn't wanna be lazy with the sun in the morning??

and the destin west beach was right past the pools where we could jump a wave or two (:
now the beach, the ocean, pool, waves, sand, and sun is great fun. but my favorite part of florida is seeing my family! i don't get to see my name bearing fam all too often, especially since we left the east coast. but this past week we got about 20 of us brassellians together, and it was a such a present (:
and here are the folks who started it all. john the 1st and stephanie brassell. my great-grandparents. i snapped these pictures of photos they had hanging on their wall. such classic, timely pictures of the two- g.grandad with pipe in hand, and g.grandma in her nursing attire.
g.grandma passed away april 2010, we sure miss her. she was the sweetest lady and accomplished so much throughout her life. this was most likely the last time i'd see my g.granddad, it was hard saying goodbye to him. he is 96 and stills got the "umph!' just a sweet southern gentleman at most.
another reason for this splendid trip was for the 5 john's reunions. little baby johnny got to go on his first plane ride to go and meet his namesake.

i loved attending them both- great people and great messages. (:

what a vacation. i loved it. being with family is such a blessing, especially when you have the best! (:
great grandpa said to me before i left, "miss brit, you will always have a little florida sand in your shoes." i liked that, and yes it's true. i do miss living in florida, and i did take some white sand and shells home to beach-up my utah abode!
